blog writer avery

Hey there, I’m Avery — mama of three, lover of strong coffee, spicy opinions, and stories that make you laugh out loud in public. I was born and raised in the heart of Nevada County, California, and while some folks dream of escaping small-town life, I’ve found endless inspiration, mystery, and meaning right here in the Sierra foothills. From haunted hotels to neighborhood bear break-ins (yep, really), this place practically writes the blog for me.

I started IttyBitty4Life as a way to capture the chaos, charm, and candid reality of life as a parent, partner, and perpetually multitasking woman. Around here, no topic is off-limits—whether it’s how to survive a toddler’s sleep regression without losing your last brain cell, the need for a weekend vet in our town (seriously, can we please make this happen?), or why “FAFO Parenting” might just be your new favorite method of discipline.

You’ll find a little bit of everything here:

Practical Parenting Tips
Local Spotlights on Nevada County Events and Businesses
Paranormal Tales
Real Small-Town Police Calls
Simple DIY Projects
Recipes For Busy Families
Honest Insights on Mental Health & Trauma Recovery
Life, Self-Care & Cleaning Hacks

Above all, I believe in celebrating the all the itty-bitty moments that make life meaningful. From the tiny victories to the messy wins and always the unfiltered laughs. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about having it all together… it’s about finding joy in the glorious mess.

So grab a seat, kick off your shoes, and stay a while. Whether you’re here for the parenting tips, the community connection, or because you stumbled across one of my posts on social media—
I’m so glad you stopped by.

I’m a digital marketer by trade, and I love helping small businesses and fellow creators get seen online through smart, honest strategies that actually work.

The Small Town Called Home

Nestled in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains is a small town that dates back to the gold rush era, North San Juan. Locals call it “The Ridge,” and it’s so small that if you sneeze, you’ll miss it while driving by.

Residents of this town lost in time range from famous Scottish fiddler, Alistair Fraser, to people who can only be described as “mountain folk.” They’re not quite hermits but you only ever see them at the local gas station, wearing the same flannel and overalls patterned with an abundance of oil stains. Regards of what class residents fall in, most will greet you with a smile and nod as your paths cross.

There’s a certain absurdity that comes with living in a small town but it’s the closest you’ll ever get to living in a fairy tale or a classic 80’s film. It’s a place where every day starts with the promise that anything is possible and even the sunrises seem to have a touch of magic to them.
