Rough & Ready stands as a small, historic community with homes nestled among the wooded hills and winding dirt roads. With many families calling this area home, the need for a local country store has never been more important. The Country Store has long served as a sanctuary for connection, where friends and neighbors gather to share stories and laughter. In an age of increasing disconnection, the mission is to revive a sense of unity and belonging between not only the local residents but with other community members.
Meet the Owners
Marty and Tredi, are the proud parents of four children: Kaya, Mary, and spirited twins, Liam and Rose. As a homeschooling family, Tredi instills values of kindness and integrity in the children while emphasizing the importance of being involved community members. The Country Store journey began just a year ago, fueled by determination to create a beneficial space for everyone in Rough & Ready. Despite facing life-changing challenges last year, their commitment to this venture grows stronger. Supported by the incredible spirit of Maryann, a neighbor and manager, Marty and Tredi hope to have the store open as soon as possible to help locals.

The Rough & Ready Country Store will be a welcoming environment where community members can come together, connect, and engage in meaningful interactions. It will provide a local solution for older residents, as the trip to Grass Valley or Penn Valley can feel daunting and waiting for the bus during hot or inclement weather is not a ideal option for many. Additionally, residents utilizing food stamps (EBT), will be ensured quality food at a fair price making the store accessible to all.
Beyond the store and pub, they are committed to setting up an emergency fund that residents of Rough & Ready can utilize in times of need. The goal is to create a safety net that strengthens the local community and builds a spirit of support and togetherness.

Planned Amenities
Country Store
The store will cater to a variety of needs, offering everything from essential pet supplies to fishing bait. The store will be working with local organic farms to stock the shelves with fresh produce.
Deli
A diverse menu of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches made from locally sourced organic produce and local meats will amaze customers at the deli. This effort not only satisfies cravings but also supports the local economy.
Pub
Marty, originally from Mullingar, Ireland, will lead the pub, serving locally brewed beers and wines sourced from nearby vineyards. They aim to offer high-quality organic food and drinks, along with artisan-made meals that reflect the vibrant flavors of our region.
Event Space
As the business grows, they plan to bring back beloved community events that enhance the town’s culture, like Car Shows and Wild West Days. The outdoor space will also be used to host performances by local musical talent.
Outdoor Oasis
Imagine relaxing in a fenced garden oasis, sipping a refreshing beverage on a covered porch while telling stories with friends. This outdoor space will be the perfect for wine tastings and gatherings, featuring charcuterie platters made with local ingredients.
