Nevada City Children’s Festival 2025: A Renaissance Adventure for Kids

Fall in Nevada County has a way of bringing the community together. Crisp mornings, golden afternoons, and weekends full of local events remind us why we love living here. This Saturday, Nevada City is once again hosting one of its most beloved traditions: the Children’s Festival at Pioneer Park. If you’ve never been, picture a Renaissance Faire crafted just for kids—complete with games, crafts, and plenty of magic.

What is the Children’s Festival?

The Children’s Festival is a long-standing Nevada City event designed to spark creativity and play. Imagine more than 20 booths filled with arts and crafts, medieval-style games, music, entertainment, and even a giant castle maze. Kids can try their hand at shield-making, create their own crowns, or get their faces painted while parents soak in the festive atmosphere.

This is more than just a day of fun—it’s a chance for families to step into a whimsical, storybook setting and experience the joy of community.

An Event With Kids In Mind

Nevada County is full of festivals, but the Children’s Festival is special. It’s designed with kids in mind, making it accessible, affordable, and fun for all ages. With around 1,000 people attending between the two sessions, it’s lively but not overwhelming.

Families love the Children’s Festival because it offers so much more than just entertainment. Kids can dive into hands-on activities, creating and playing rather than just watching from the sidelines. The event is also incredibly affordable—just $3 per session—making it one of the most budget-friendly outings in Nevada County. Beyond the fun, it’s a true community gathering, organized by local volunteers and set right in the heart of Nevada City. And while Renaissance costumes add to the magic, they’re completely optional—children in simple, comfy clothes will still feel every bit a part of the celebration.
